También le dispararon a un transeúnte fuera del casino. Agentes fuertemente armados se apresuraron al interior del Casino Miami Jai-Alai. Los detectives y el personal de Bomberos de Miami inundaron un área en la calle 35 entre las avenidas 36 y 37. Los paramédicos llevaron rápidamente a las víctimas al Jackson Memorial Hospital. Cuando los atacantes terminaron en el área de valet del casino, había oficiales del Departamento de Policía de Miami-Dade entrenando en el estacionamiento, al principio, los policías pensaron que les estaban disparando y pidieron refuerzos.
