Incluso una sección de soldados fueron solicitados oportunamente para impartir seguridad a la guapa visitante que desde ese día en que piso Tampico, deslumbró con su belleza sin par al público asistente. María destilaba simpatía a raudales. Todo era sonrisas y aplausos para ella, que por primera vez en su vida pisaba tierra tampiqueña, donde se contaban por millares sus admiradores. Los micrófonos de tres estaciones difusoras locales estuvieron reseñando la cariñosa recepción, llevando minuto a minuto, segundo a segundo lo que sucedía en el campo aéreo. Posteriormente, la señora Dolores T. de Mitates, Presidenta del Comité de Damas de la Cruz Roja, impuso en el pecho de la distinguida visitante un hermoso Corsage, entre los aplausos del numeroso público que presenció la escena. Esa misma noche, María Félix fue invitada de honor en la exhibición de modas y perfumes que se verificó en el Casino Tampiqueño, auspiciada por la Farmacia Central Mexicana y Casa Rosa, a beneficio de la Benemérita Cruz Roja de Tampico. El suceso constituyó uno de los más resonantes éxitos tanto sociales como económicos como pocas veces se vio antes en Tampico. La Doña, con su impresionante belleza y su aún más impresionante personalidad, cautivó a las personas que se apersonaron en el máximo centro social tampiqueño.
